Purbayan Chatterjee

Sitar maestro Purbayan Chatterjee is known for his soulful and dexterous performances. Belonging to the famous Senia Maihar Gharana, Purbayan Ji’s unique creativity amalgamates traditional Hindustani classical music with multiple contemporary music genres from across the globe. Only the most versatile artists like him have the finesse to create compositions beyond conventional boundaries and retain the tradition’s purity.

Purbayan Ji has chosen Raag Kedar in nine beats Matta Taal followed by Drut Ek Taal in twelve beats for the first half of this concert. In the second half, he presents a very playful Raag Mishra Khamaj in Dadra, followed by Raag Manj Khamaj, a composition created by Ustad Allauddin Khan Sahab and concludes with Bhairavi.

Don’t miss the unique anecdotes Purbayan shares about one of his favourite genres, Jazz music.

Anubrata Chatterjee, known for his electrifying tabla rendition like his illustrious father Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, accompanies Purbayan Ji in this concert. Together, they create an exuberant performance that takes the concert to a new level.
