The Dhrupad Sisters
The history of the Dagar tradition, popularly known as the Dagarvani style of Dhrupad, goes back nineteen generations. Witness Dhrupad, in its purest form, presented by exponents of the Dagarvani style of Dhrupad, The Dhrupad Sisters – Janhavi Phansalkar & Amita Sinha Mahapatra on vocals accompanied by Anuja Borude on Pakhavaj.
This all-women concert is indeed exceptional for Sangeet Sabha. The vocal artists Janhavi Ji and Amita Ji represent a few women artists who successfully carry forward a rich style of the ancient form of Indian Classical Music.
Worshipping the celestial sound, ‘Naadbrahma,’ watch the artists present the traditional compositions in Dhamar Taal and Shiv Stuti in Raag Malkauns.
