Anuja Borude Artist
Anuja Borude
Anuja is one of the leading female Pakhawaj players in India. When she was only 8 years old, her father, Dnyandeo Borude, encouraged her and introduced her to the Warkari style of Pakhawaj. Later on, Anuja took formal training in classical Pakhawaj with Pt. Vasantraoji Ghorpadkar, one of the pioneers in the Nana Panse Gharana. Anuja was lucky to meet Pt. Akhilesh Gundecha, the renowned Pakhawaj artist and teacher, during the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival in Pune, and in 2014, she joined the Dhrupad Sansthan in Bhopal to learn full-time and hone her Pakhawaj skills under the expert tutelage of Pt. Akhilesh Gundecha and Padma Shri Gundecha Brothers. Anuja has performed in many prestigious music concerts and venues in India and abroad, including Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav (Pune), Tansen Music Festival (Gwalior), Kalidas Music Festival (Ujjain), Aadyaa Women’s Music Festival (Bhopal), Dhrupad Mela (Varanasi), NCPA (Mumbai). She has performed across multiple cities in the United States and other countries.
