Pandit Anindo Chatterjee tabla maestro
Pandit Anindo Chatterjee

An exemplary tabla maestro who has splendidly ingrained the sophistication of the Farukhabad Gharana, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee’s accomplishments are second to none. The astonishing speed with a mind-blowing stroke clarity makes his concert performances scale extraordinary heights.

He was born in a musical family and received his Taaleem from Guru Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh. At a tender age of only five years, he became one of the youngest performing artists for All India Radio. In his illustrious career, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee has enthralled audiences across the globe with his tabla performances and recordings. He has accompanied almost every legendary artist in Indian Classical Music. Panditji’s Gharana-blending style depicts a delicate balance between centuries-old traditional compositions and his Guru’s open-minded approach.

In 1970, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee received the prestigious ‘President’s Award’. He was the youngest tabla player to perform in the UK Parliament’s House of Commons in 1989. In 2010, he was invited to perform at the Rashtrapati Bhavan during US President Obama’s visit to India. Panditji was felicitated with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2002.

His son, Shri Anubrata Chatterjee, is closely following in his footsteps and has given many exhilarating performances along with Panditji and other legendary musicians and vocalists worldwide.
